The kitchen is the heart of my home. Is just that space that everybody use everyday and a place where we as a family create memories. For that reason I love to decorate my kitchen, especially the countertops, and one thing that I always use to decorate my kitchen are cutting boards. I layered different shapes and colors to create texture and a focal point in my kitchen countertops. Here I’m going to share how I create two cutting boards from scratch. I have some wooden boards in my garage so I decided to use my new jigsaw to cut my cutting boards. This is the first time I use a jigsaw, it’s was so fun and I can’t wait to use it again.

Farmhouse decorative cutting boards

Easy and fun project to decorate your kitchen.

Cutting the cutting board

I use a piece of pine wood and with a pencil I draw the shape that I wanted to be the board and cut it using the jigsaw. Then I drill a hole to put the jute twine. I decided to stain the wood but first I sanded the cutting board then I stain the board with Early American By Minwax.

Jigsaw

I use my new tool the jigsaw to cut the wood. Then I drill a hole and sand the cutting board. I choose to stain the cutting board with Early American Minwax stein.

Cut the stencil

I use my Cricut cutting machine to make the stencil.

The stencil

I use a farmhouse design that I find in a Etsy shop and I use Cricut premium vinyl.

Painting

I put my stencil in the cutting board and painted with chalk black paint.

Ready

Removed the stencil and let dry the paint. It was so fun that I decided to make another one.

Second one

I make a second cutting board with the same process but I choose a different design.

Second design

The steps for both of the cutting boards were the same but the design, shape and the size are different.

Final results.

Here they are I love how my kitchen countertops looks with this special diy project. I hope that this project inspired you to make something special to decorate that special space in your home.

Can you use these as a cutting board or are they only decorative? I love them either way!!

Oh, I am inspired...The real nice part, I don't have to cut a board. I have a cutting board that is in the shape of a pig. "Farm Fresh Bacon" with a pig, will be my design...I am looking forward to making the change!
