How To Make Artificial Plants Look Real & Where To Find Them

Where are all my fellow house plant killers at?!

If you are anything like me, you have really good intentions for the real flowers & plants you bring home but something always ends up going wrong…

So instead of becoming a serial plant killer we all (the very judgmental family) thought it would be better if I stuck to artificial plants & flowers.

The only thing is faux plants tend to look… well fake.

So after lots & lots of trail & error I came up with these easy tips & tricks to make them look really real!

Plus you can find all my favorite artificial plants at the end of the post!

Faux Plant Tips & Tricks

I recently ordered this 66″ cutie from target & he arrived today!

Definitely not looking his best but you wouldn’t either if you were smooshed in a narrow box & shipped in the Alabama heat 😉

Tip 1: Fluff & Spread

The first thing I do after I free any artificial plant from it’s box is separate all the branches.

It’s super easy for the leaves to stick together or intertwine so separating them a bit helps the plant look fuller & more natural.

It’s also help full to gently bend the different branches in opposite directions so that they can cover more area.

Tip 2: Break Out The Blowdryer

It might seem a little weird but I swear blow drying the leaves a bit help them to un-crinkle & bloom in a faux plant type of way.

I like to keep the heat on medium & gently fluff the leaves while blow drying them.

Tip 3: Add Height

Artificial plants aren’t usually as tall as their real counterparts, so I like to simply fill a cute pot with cans, packing paper, bubblewrap, anything really for my pot to sit on top of to add a little height.

If you really wanna make your plants look extra tall you could put your pot in a plant stand!

Tip 4: Add Real Dirt

If you were you remember I added real dirt to my faux succulents!

It gives them a more life like appearance & doubles as an excellent pot filler!

Tip 5: Add Real Water

Yep add water to the vases of your faux flowers!

It will make them look more natural & your guests won’t even question whether they are real or not 😉

Just make sure to change the water occasionally because it can start to look a little dirty.

Last but not least!

Add an adorable live animal or child to the room!

I am just kidding, but I do think she adds to the room don’t you?
