Mini Palm Leaves Using Paper Lunch Bags
Decorating with dried palm leaves has been a big trend lately. Our house is decorated in neutral earthy tones and that’s why the palm leaves appeal to me. It adds a tropical touch into a neutral home interior. Their sizes and prices in the market can be a little overwhelming so I have to make my own and go mini. This DIY didn’t cost me a thing.

Materials:
1) paper lunch bags
2) barbeque sticks
3) glue gun.
Instead of paper lunch bags, you can use copy paper, cardstock, kraft paper, or grocery bags. I chose the thin lightweight paper lunch bags so it will be easy to handle.
First step is to cut the leaves out of the paper bags. I did some measurements here but there really is no need for templates. You can just cut random shapes and sizes…triangle, half round, or half oval.
Next is to fold and crease each piece in accordion style. About a quarter inch fold is best for these mini leaves.
It doesn’t take much time to fold all your leaves.
Glue a barbeque stick in the center of each leaf and then add a streak of glue to the length of the base.
Pinch together at the base to form the leaf.
To have a finished look, you can cover the ends by gluing a strip of paper around the base.
For the leaves with a rounded top, you can trim a triangle off from the tip of one folded crease to the next and stopping the cut midway to create pointy leaves.
So fun and easy to make that I ended up with enough for four of my mini vases. I can display them on a tiered tray, on my desk, in the coffee bar, on accent tables, or even in the bathroom. Pretty much anywhere in the house since they are just mini decorations.
