What colors are in your room? What is your decorating style?
Liz, maybe try putting a large canvas piece. Something calming and peaceful, or try what I did, put framed pictures of the family. I prefer that rather than displaying them in all rooms.
You could do a faux finish, rag roll or planks that are white washed. I would google your question that always gives me a ton of ideas
One large piece will make a room look smaller. It focuses too much central attention. Think of clusters of pictures, mirrors, hats, collections of things. Balance is your focal design element.
If you are a young person or this is a new space to you, you may be amazed at how easy it is to find things for your walls. Is just one of the walls blank? What furniture does it have in front of it? What style would you say you like? You can hang fabric, like a quilt, one picture or a series of pictures. In one of my granddaughters dorm rooms she hung a highly decorated shower curtain on a blank wall. You could put up a poster and if you can't afford a frame, cut out colored craft paper and make a frame for it. You could hang your necklaces on it. If there is an animal or a sport you particularly like you could put a series of pictures (no need to frame them), up. You could put a bulletin board up. Or plates. Or things like an attractive piece of wood, or some shelves.
