How can I remove Plaster of Paris from molds?
I'm interested in taking molds that are used to make ceramics and use those molds for plaster. I know that the molds have to be sealed with shellac, which I have done. Now I can't get the item out of the mold in one piece. Not sure where to go from here.

Hello Sheri,
Have you tried using a spray mold release on them before adding plaster? Where the molds flexible before you sealed them with shellac?
HI Sheri,
Here is a link to what some people have done with your circumstance, it seems to be a running dialogue, see if any of their suggestions might help you:

Not sure how to help you currently but there are great mould releases out there that could help you next time. I’ve used Smooth-On.
Hi Sheri, I know nothing of this, but I did find a link with some answers to these type of problems, hope it helps you out!

Oh dear, that's so frustrating. I'm not sure if you used a release agent, but just a thought, perhaps you can make your own silicone molds using this super easy recipe - https://acraftymix.com/blog/two-ingredient-mold/ it works with plaster of Paris too.

Hello again Sheri,
Had you thought to soak it in water until the plaster is soft and can be scooped out, then when mould is clean, start again but use a mould release
agent before adding plaster..............Hope that solves the problem for you.
Hello Sheri,
If the mold is plaster and you put plaster in it then the only way may be to use hot water in centre to make plaster soft and try to scoop it out, but I don't have to much hope of success. Maybe you could make a mold of the mold with a lot of hot glue or other device? Sorry I can't think of any other way, but maybe someone else has had this problem and can help you.......
