I'm not a decorator. I do have a house with walls. I decide what I want and then decide which will be my accent wall. It has never been a wall with a window. If you have a fireplace built in that would be your accent wall. Those are my only qualifications.

are you just painting? it could be the ceiling instead of a wall

Lynn, I have a drop ceiling!! So that's no good👎🙅

  • What room is It? If a bedroom, I always use the wall behind the bed as the accent wall. At my old house, in the dining room, I used the wall where I placed the buffet and buffet lamps.

  • Hi Tracey, it really just depends on the room. If it is a bedroom the accent wall is the wall with the bed. If it is a bathroom it could be where the vanities are or the bathtub depending on the bathroom. If its a family room it could be the fireplace. It generally is the first wall you see when you walk in a room. If you have a picture of the whole room to post that would be helpful.

    • Hi Tracey,

In this picture the accent wall is the wall behind the couch. This is not knowing what is behind you as you took the picture...I am guessing there are windows on the other wall not seen in the picture??
