Tired of Old Wall Art? Try This Instead!

Have you ever peaked into your decor storage & thought "mmm, nope. This doesn't work anymore for this space"? Me. Last year I scored a pair of wall art pieces on sale for my kids shared room and since the move to our new house, they just don't work anymore. So naturally they've been sitting. I considered painting over them, but just hadn't found the right idea.

After another project involving peelable wallpaper (which didn't work btw) I realized that I had the perfect solution to these sad and forgotten pieces.

PEELABLE WALLPAPER ART! Why did I not think to do this sooner?!

Materials:

-old wall art

-peelable wallpaper

-scissors

-exacto knife

First, roll out the adhesive wallpaper onto a flat surface. Then flip your art face down to roughly measure the size of adhesive you'll need.

And then cut! Snippity snippity ✂ Make sure to cut larger than the piece you're working with. If you cut to the exact size, you'll have to be EXACT with your applicationicon

Flip your art face up, peel a corner of the adhesive/ adhesive wallpaper and carefully apply slowly. Make sure to smooth out at bubbles as you go. (If you have to lift the adhesive it tends to stretch and not apply as smoothly).

After the adhesive is applied and smoothed, take your exacto knife. Cut the excess adhesive on the edge of the art piece to create a perfect fit!

Hang and admire! I hung this in my daughter's room and it fit perfectly with her decor.

You can use extra peelable wallpaper from other projects, or buy inexpensive adhesive from any craft store, Dollar Tree, Wal-Mart or Target. Just look in the kitchen section at their contact paper! There are rolls of faux marble, wood and terrazzo as well as patterns for only $6 or less.

Happy crafting my friend!

Do I fold over the sides and bottom or end it at the end of the picture. If so won’t it Ravel upward. Thank you

I have covered cardboard found in frames with cloth and put them back together for a framed finished look. Your idea works as another idea that would be almost easier. The contract paper or cloth can be changed quickly and easily. Thanks for the idea!
