Upcycled Antique Window Wall Decor

I found an old window at a salvage warehouse and thought it would make a good addition to my living room walls. The only problem was it was old, dirty and falling apart. But I had a plan.

I could see it all spiffed up and shiny new even though it looked like this:

We cleaned and scraped and replaced and trimmed the window glazing. It was a more intensive project than we expected but we liked the results, so it was worth it.

Honestly, I took weeks to do this project. I'd take a few moments here and there to run downstairs and do some scraping of the old window glaze. Oh my it was a mess!

Oh happy day! The window glaze was finally off. We replaced the push points that keeps on the glass and rolled the window putty (glaze) into a long snake, add it to the edges and trimmed it out.

To use it as decor, you need to make sure it doesn't show on the other side.

I didn't prime or fix the bumps and bruises because I wanted a rustic look.

Sometimes "old and ragged" is good. I painted it with General Finishes bronze Pearl Effects by hand. I find it easier than to tape off everything.

I added a pretty wreath and hung it on my living room wall.

The struggle is real. But the results are worth it...most of the time.
