How do I make my gas wall heater look more like a fireplace?

You don't say how small or large an area you have...A small table with a basket, plants , your children's artwork , framed....paint one wall with blackboard paint ( comes in many colors , not just black ! )
It's a fun space to change decor for each season , a welcoming area.

How much space do you Have? I would have a console table with a mirror over it, possibly some fun artwork on the walls. If space permits a bench or chair to change shoes in inclement weather. A plant of some sort is always nice too.
Change your flooring to tile, wood look porcelain, or paint a design on hardwood flooring, if that's an option.
