How can I cover white ceramic tile with black grout?
I have white ceramic tile with black grout and want to change the floor covering to vinyl or laminate but don't want to have to remove the existing ceramic tile and grout. I also have 3 rooms with carpet that I want to cover with the same material but when the carpet is removed there will be a significant drop in floor level.

The only way to go over tile is to cover it with plywood first.
You can use laminate if it's a floating floor over tile. Vinyl will not work. Any dips, grout lines, imperfections in the tile will transfer to the vinyl. You can use laminate floating floor when you remove the carpet in the three rooms. Transition strips will cover the difference in floor height.
I put down inexpensive faux marble peel and stick vinyl, groutable tiles over the ugliest ceramic floor tile you ever saw in our bathroom three years ago. It was dark green with huge black grout lines. We are planning a full gut of that room but not for a few more years, but I knew I couldn't live with that floor for that long. So far it's fine. I can't tell any issues with it, however I have a heathy relationship with imperfection :-) It was never meant to be a long term solution, just something to help me keep my sanity until we can make it to the remodel. But it looks fine so far.
