Sand, stain and urethane. After doing that, you can't walk on it for a day or so but area rugs have to wait for about a week to 10 days. It's a messy, smelly job but looks great when done. We had all of our floors done before we moved into our house.
Sand them down then clean them vacuumed very well then varnish them
If the scratches don't go all the way through to the wood, you can scuff-sand yourfloors with a buffer and apply a fresh coat or two of finish. The hardwood floor refinishing process is easier and less expensive than sanding down to bare woodand takes less time. In a few hours your floors will look as good as new
