I would use RustOleum metallic paint. But only do the edging as an accent rather than the entire section. I believe it would be a bit much for all of it b

Why don’t you get a ceiling medallion it goes around the ceiling light at the part we’re the wires are and tacos to the ceiling it makes it look fancy that would look fabulous painted a gold Matallic Home Depot sells them in the ceiling fan section there white and you paint them get a ornate one .

Sure you could definitely do that. If you have a bit of faux finishing skills under your belt, you can give the paint an aged look with glazes too or try the aged plaster look with gold around it.
