What direction do I have my new hardwood floors layed?

I am removing my carpet in the living room. The room is longer that wide. My problem is the wood paneling on all four walls. My husband loves it and does not want it removed. I am not sure what direction to lay the new hard wood floors, do I go with the long or wide direction???

Personally I would go the opposite of the room layout.

I've felt with the same problem . I've been told that most are laid the way the sun enters the room . Mostly East and West which is the long way in my home. I would say lay several pieces down and decide what you think looks best and fly that way

    Good luck

Why not use Herringbone or Diagenal instead or Border

Probably the installers would have some good suggestions for you....It also depends how wide the planks (?) are...I'd go for the long direction, more natural...JMO

Installed it direction of the long wall or the direction of entrance to the room.

Do you have hardwood in any rooms that are open to your living room such as a hallway or dining room or kitchen? If so go in that same direction in your living room. Or you could go with a pattern which I am sure would add expense.
