How to repair a broken rose branch?

My rose bush completely broke. I remember my grandmother snipping the stem slanted and putting it in water to get roots. After roots appeared, she planted it in a small container with dirt. Does this method work or is there another way I can get rooting for the rose bush to grow?

It works.. you can also do this with the roses from the store that have been cut . There are several videos on the internet that show you step by step.
That method does work. But adding the hormone makes it work better!
