I think they do better in warmer climates. I am in Ohio and I find that they can be put outside in pots during the warmer months (May-September), then brought back in during the cold season.
That depends on your location.Here in Ny they are houseplants and can only be used outside in the shade for the summer.

I read an article all about Peace Lillies when my neighbor gave us hers. Wow quite a complicated plant. I would google it and find out for your area, I'm in NE and im not supposed to put it outside because apparently it doesn't like direct sun only indirect and not too hot or to cold. I've chosen to keep it in the an area in the house with indirect sun only and its thriving.
