How to get my hydrangea to flourish?
I got a large hydrangea plant from my son and it's not doing well. The flowers come out bright blue then change to a sad yellow/pale pink.. The tag that came with it said it was the kind that blooms alot and that i didn't need to do any pruning. It's killing me to keep from taking off the bad looking flowers. It does get a lot of sun where it is and wondering if I should move it? I started putting eggshells and coffee grounds in it since I read it needs acidic soil.

Coffee grounds should help to restore the blue color. You should use a granular fertilizer rich in phosphorus that is a slow release.
Did you plant in ground or repot?
It sounds like you have a healthy plant! I would get a soil test kit and make sure of the soil ph. If it needs more acid, powdered lime works well. Be sure to wear a mask when using lime!
This is the solution that I've always heard works wonders, I'm going to try it myself, because mine has started looking a little ragged.
I live in S. California and find my new 3 gal. hydrangea plants dont tolerate full sun at all. Even well watered the flowers burn although, I have seen more established plants tolerate partial sun. I'm about 20 min. east of San Diego and mine do well and have large luscious flowers in dappled shade or indirect light. Hope this helps.
