First start with your freshly cut cuttings wrapped in a damp paper towel. Place them in a jar of water either after using a root starter or using Miracle Grow. I always remove the leaf from the bottom bud area so that the roots start there. After the roots start in the water you can transfer to soil. Roses can be started just like grape vines.
