How to prune Oak Leaf Hydrangeas?
I have two large Oak Leaf Hydrangeas that need pruning and am unsure when is the correct time as to not impede next years blooming. This fall or next spring? Thanks

It is important the moon phase. It is better after full moon. Or wanning moon because the liquid retention of the trees... Let full moon phase passes and prune them without harm.

Pruning oakleaf hydrangeas can also help establish a full shrub. Pinch back new growth or else trim older growth if this is your intent. Since these shrubs bloom on the prior year's growth, don't prune them until they bloom. This gives them time to grow new buds that will bloom again the following summer
