I have had Kalanchoe for about 15 years. The same mother plant and many other plants. Kalanchoe roots from the stems. I would repot the plant into a larger pot. Trim the tops of the plant you have now and stick the stems into another pot or even in the ground. Keep watered if you are in a hot climate. You will have several plants in no time.

Does it need to be repotted into a larger pot?
Do you want it to bloom or just grow well?
Thing is - they root easily from cuttings. Keep the tips of the branches that have leaves to grow new plants. So if the mother plant is too high, prune it as Peggy suggested - and then put these tips to the ground (in the same or a bigger pot). This way it might look nicer.
As for repotting, as you've mentioned it, equal parts of perlite and cactus mix would probably work.
Good luck!
Hi Mo,
Prune any spent flowers and unsightly bits off. give it a little food and leave otherwise alone. Best of luck!
