I use one cup of vinegar, one cup of table salt to two gallons water in a garden sprayer. Saturate the weeds till dipping. Do not use on lawn or in garden will kill everything. Boiling water on weeds in lawn and garden.

Hi Pam. Dissolve one cup of salt in a gallon of water and add 1 tablespoon of dish soap. Put this solution in a spray bottle and spray it on the poison ivy. This method will work in the short run, but you will need several more applications to keep it from returning. Good luck Pam. Stay well.

Hi Pam: Yikes, poison ivy! First of all, be very careful handling this mess. If you want to attempt to cut it down to about 1 or 2 feet, before treating, that's fine. If not, here's what I do for vines that I don't want around, like poison ivy, bamboo, berry bushes, etc. Get a product called ground clear, it kills everything! You can get it at most home improvement stores. Then, put some in a small can and paint the undersides of the leaves with this, using a small foam brush. Be sure not to get the ground clear on anything else. The plant will take the poison to the roots, through the leaves, and kill just this plant, if you are careful not to get the ground clear on anything else. You can use this method on any plant you want to get rid of. If you are worried about the leaves touching your other plants, cut the unwanted plant short, leaving several leaves, paint the leaves with the ground clear and then cover it with a plastic bag and secure it to the ground with dirt or rocks. That way, even the wind won't blow the poisoned vine onto your other plants.

If you are, or you know someone who is, diabetic, ask for one of their used needles, fill it with the ground clear and inject it, in a downwards direction, directly into the vine. Then, be sure to dispose of the needle properly and don't touch the needle part because you may get some of the poison ivy oil on you. Good luck with this, invasive plants are the worst!

Hello. Poison ivy is something that is tenacious to treat. We usually find that pulling up at the roots to be the most effective management. Using chemical sprays can damage surrounding plant material and trees so it needs to be done cautiously. Hope you find the perfect solution.

I’m allergic, so I use a very small paint brush from dollar store, disposable plastic cup and lightly hand paint the center of the leaves with a brush & weed killer.

The bottle will say how much to dilute it and how many days before rain it should be applied.

Home Depot carries a spray made specifically for poison ivy. You spray it on in the hot sun. Pulling it out will help but it often has long roots that can pop up again later. I spray it so the leaves die first then cover arm with long shirt, gloves and pull out using a plastic grocery bag on top of the plant. Get as close to the ground as you can and pull it out. Throw in a large plastic trash bag and seal.
