Yes, and I would seriously consider shade cover for the intense summer heat. Don't be surprised if the plants go dormant in the heat of summer. Mine do and I am in zone 9 here in Southern CA. When the temps are 100°+ the plants go into survival mode and come back to life in the fall. If you get tomatoes in by the end of February, beginning of March, you can have tomatoes by July 4th - depending on the variety. Grow several different types and see what you do best with.
The first few years will be a bit of trial and error to see what grows best for you. Just don't give up. Keep trying different things. If you like herbs, set some out in ground or in pots now. I have been successful with lots of herbs other than basil, over the "winter" months too. Right now you can grow lettuce, spinach, beans, Brussel sprouts, cabbage. Give it a go and see how you do,
Yes I'm in Phoenix & grow everything.here's a bunch of info. https://lakehavasumagazine.com/gardening-time-in-havasu-winter-gardens-in-the-desert/ MORE https://www.almanac.com/gardening/planting-calendar/AZ/Lake%20Havasu%20City MORE https://cals.arizona.edu/mohave/master_gardeners/lake_havasu/articles/vegetables.pdf I use a sprinkler hose woven in and around garden for easier thorough watering. I buy praying Mantis egg cases and live Lady bugs for pest control. Treat the soil with old coffee grounds & egg shells, and use Jobes organic fertlizer. Everything needs well started by Feb. or it won't be tolerant of the sun. you can also use shade screens to keep veggies from getting scalded by the sun.
