Are you growing from starter plants? Or seeds? On the back of the seed packets, they specify "days to matufity" - you still might have some time if you get them in the ground now. Where I am in Zone 9, it is much more forgiving as the growing season is much longer.

Ooops! Your question got cut off before you were finished......northern where?

No matter where, a good place to ask is your County Extension Agent's office. They will have local information about agricultural issues. Find them in the government section of phone books.

Hi there, I'm in Zone 4b. First of all, it doesn't hurt to try. What's the worst that can happen, you wasted a few bucks on seeds. I'm still planning on getting another crop of green beans in, along with some radishes and spinach. Depending where you are located, you might still have time to grow squash and cucumbers, but I would purchase plants and not try to grow them from seed. Good luck and happy gardening!

Here in Idaho, we plant everything {except fall crops} by the middle of June so they have enough time to produce before fall. Green beans should be planted as early as possible as they don't like hot weather and they quit bearing when it get real hot.

Oops, don't know why my answer doubled up. Sorry 'bout that.

  • If you are in Zone 7, you can still plant the second round but I would recommend doing it in the next few days.
