File Cabinet Makeover (in Progress)

This file cabinet needed a makeover badly, so I decided to pretty it up and turn it into a desk. It's not perfect, but it was cheap and easy!
First we removed the contents and hardware, but left the drawers and lock in place.
I decided to go for a waxy-chocolate color...
Which looked AWFUL on the metal. AWFUL. It looked like it had been burned. It also wiped right off.
BUT... it looked great on the two wooden legs for the table. I sprayed the wood and then wiped it off with a rag, and finished the legs with a coat of clear coat.
Next I covered the metal with white paint (with primer). It took about 3 coats and could honestly stand a 4th, but I'm impatient.

I purchased a roll of "barnwood" vinyl adhesive film on Amazon and covered the drawers.

As soon as we get the top and legs attached I will update with the final results!

Hi, I’ve looked everywhere to see if folks are painting the sides of the drawers? They will be visible when they are pulled out. Thanks for any help. Good job on yours! I love it❤️ Jennifer
