How do you transform traditional decor to farmhouse?

On a very low budget? I was gonna start in one room but then there is no flow. I love the industrial farmhouse look but don't know how to stay inexpensive. Our walls are yellow, actually a builders white but against white they are tellow. Do i start by painting the walls a gray?

Look around Markets, Thrift Stores, Charity events. Boot/Yard sales many things can be picked up cheaply.. etc -

Thank you! We have a few good places here but I find the better items when we go north to Georgia - Should I start with painting the walls a gray color? -

Paint is the first step. Careful with grey. It can really make a room look cold if it has a blue base. Select one with a warm base. Your local paint store can help you out. -

Look at farmhouse décor on sites such as Houzz, etc. Most of the walls seem to be white/off-white with wood accents. -
