If you do not know exactly what you want, hire an interior designer / decorator and a contractor. Have a plan and a realistic budget and stick to it. Living in CA where everything is expensive, I have a back up contingency fund equal to 25% of the entire renovation budget, you never know once you start ripping down walls . . . And have to bring electrical, plumbing, etc. to meet or exceed current building codes. -
