Put in a container that seals well or everything will taste like watermelon.
It needs to be sealed in an air tight container like plastic or zip lock bag. Then keep it in a cool refrigerator set on low.
I like to cover the cut surface of the melon with Saran wrap because the surface stays just cut fresh
Either a big baggie or a sealed container. You'll be good to go.
Typically I like to store things in glass containers rather than plastic.
Since I can get decent watermelon almost year round, I typically purchase the mini seedless variety which is a bit larger than a bowling ball. I cut it all up and store in glass container with tight fitting lid. I can polish that off easily in 2- 3 days just snacking. Can you tell I love watermelon?
For large gatherings, I generally buy picnic watermelons, most are around 25 lbs. and up. Jubilee and Allsweet is what is most common.

However, I do not care for frozen watermelon unless using for a slush or smoothie.
Place white rice in bottom of container at a depth of 2 inches. Place tin foil on top of rice. Poke ice pick size holes in foil and place watermelon on top. The juice will drip through the holes and your mellon will remain fresh. Let me know how it worked for you.
