Can canned goods or alcohol (spirits) be stored in cupboard above stove or will they get heat affected? Our exhaust fan doesn’t work too well.

I would not store anything that would be affected by heat above the stove. I keep all my cake pans, pie pans, etc. on one side and things like muffin liners, unused salt shakers, trivets and a few pot holders up there. It is not hard to fill the space with things that won't be affected and put the things that will be affected in the now empty space. Really tall liquor bottles I keep underneath my sink in the back and other not so tall go in the back on upper shelves ( we don't drink hardly at all, we both had alcoholics in our families).

Canned goods and alcohol cannot be stores above the stove, heat will definitely affect.

  • Mine hold vases, paper napkins, the Margarita blender or anything that will not be affected by the stove and oven heat. I would store food and alcohol elsewhere. Some of the lesser used alcohol, I keep in the cabinets above the fridge.

I keep my Tupper Ware and other not often used dishes there like my extra place settings and my chaffing dishes.

I'm all about hooks above the stove- that way you can shape the storage according to the space that you have. I hang pots and spatulas there :)
