I would go underneath and see if any of the wood is rotted. may need to be replaced. Otherwise would need to work from the top. cut out the soft spot to see what is going on underneath.

  • I would go under and see what is causing the "soft spots" as something could be rotted out and need replacing and not the flooring above. If you are in a mobile home park, do you have a handyman to help you out?

If you just install something under the floor, then you run the risk of the rot spreading. Determine what caused it and then remedy that. The best way is to cut out the bad spot and replace with the same thickness of plywood. I used the outdoor type of plywood as it is more resistant to damp.

  • You will need to remove the floor covering from the soft spots to see what the main floor looks like, cut out all the soft spots and replace with the same thickness of plywood, we had a dish washer that was leaking and didn't know it until it had rotted out the floor, we had to remove the tile and the top layer of plywood and replace so of the floor joist, so we replaced the whole floor with new plywood and tile, we also live in a mobile home..

You can't go underneath to repair as you have sealed cover and insulation called a belly. You will need to tear up your floor covering to determine why it's soft. If it's rot, chase your leak back to the source, repair, then replace the flooring with equal thickness treated plywood.

I would start from the top and work down, that way you can see where the moisture problem is coming from. There must be a leak from somewhere.

You really need to go under the home to see what is causing the soft spots.

You can definitely fix soft spots from underneath if you can get access there. Just add some additional supports or braces under the soft spots to firm things up. If you can't get underneath, you might need to pull up the flooring in those spots and replace or reinforce the subfloor from above. Either way, make sure to address any moisture issues causing the softness first.

Contact the Van manufacturer for advice or contact a supplier for their input!

Definitely check if the subfloor is rotting! You may need to replace it. Soft spots could indicate a bigger issue you'll want to address to ensure it doesn't get worse.
