I would check with your local state nursery. A lot of states right now are pushing incentives for "bee friendly" lawns and they can probably point you in the right direction for how to accomplish it and what seeds to plant so it does well in your zone.
I would check withyour County Extension Agent. They have knowledge of what grows welll in your locality and can offer great advice and possibly some good basic ideas for doing this.
I love the idea of this. You could use the wildflowers that are planted by the highway department along interstates.

That would be very cool! I’m sure your local garden center would have great tips based specifically on your area and planting zone.
Do research on your area. We have not idea where you live so no idea of plants to grow etc. Ask for help in the form of a sentence or two and let people know where and what you want to do. Also check local ordinances. Some areas require cut grass. What you may call a meadow lawn they may call a violation of local ordinance.

Hello. You may want to contact your Cooperative extension about this. As well as beware of your neighborhood or homeowners restrictions if applicable—-before proceeding.
Sounds like a beautiful project and very environmentally friendly, You would have to decide on key plants for this project-both annuals and perennials.
