I thought they were gone (after DIY treatment) but they returned this morning. Any ideas on getting rid of them without calling the professionals.

Ants follow trails left by their predecessors. You probably have a new colony of ants bennifitting from the last groups trails. Use your DIY ant treatment again since it worked before then you'll want to wash down the area well, including entry points inside and outside of your home if you can get to them. Vinegar, water, and peppermint oil is a good solution for that.

Its a bad year for ants, don't be surprised if more show up.

Green way Liquid Ant bait-I have used it every time I see an ant in the spring and then after about 3 days I don't see them again. it is concentrated bait and I dilute it and stick it under the kitchen sink and they take it to the nest and they die.

Persistence is the key with sweet ants (the little tiny ones). Follow the trail back to the the beginning and try to find where they came in. Obviously spray that, AND spray the outside of your house as well. Be sure to wipe down the trail, so they can't follow the scent trail.

There are ant traps that are about the size of a matchbook. You can stick anywhere. I'd spread them out, counter tops, sides of your cabinets, under the sink, and on the window sill. Don't kill any ants you see, let them go in the trap, and bring back to the nest the poison. This will take 4-5 days or a bit longer, be patient. Good Luck!

You have to find out where they're coming from and close up the hole. Try to track their trail.

Best thing I've found is Terro, small bottle, got it at Lowe's. You put about 2 drops on the cabinet, ants will swarm it for about 2 days. They eat it, take it back to the nest and it kills the nest. I've used it for years, never fails!

  • Find the nest and kill them there. I use vinegar. Mine walk around or over cinnamon, the cornmeal trick does nothing.

Walmart has "Terro" which you put a small amount on a piece of cardboard and the ants love it and carry it back to their nests. I've had to use it several times, but it gets rid of them overnight. Do not put it where children or pets will get at it. Be sure to wash your hands after handling any thing like that.

  • packaged cornbread mix that says it is sweetened and put it where they are coming in if you can find it, or even on your counter in a small lid. They will take it to the mound, everyone will eat it and die, they can't digest the cornmeal, but will take it because it is sweetened. Little goes a long way.
