Most cats hate water so a motion sensor water sprinkle.

This is geared more for keeping cats off of cars but some can be used to keep them from getting under a car.

This may be a bit messy for your driveway, but could be worth a try:

Also, they do hate to get wet, attach a hose to a motion sensor, when motion is detected, the spray gets them wet and away they go.

Hi Tonya: It's nearly impossible. but you can try a few things. Spray around your car with something like vinegar or, when you see them, shake a plastic bag at them or use a squirt gun on them. Be sure to hit the hood of your car before starting it, and let the cats have time to vacate before you start your car. If you have time, pop the hood and, if a cat is there, squirt it and make a bunch of noise, like shaking a plastic bag. Pretty soon they will get the message that they are not wanted there.

    Good luck

Maybe this will help. I can confirm the lavender and citrus aversion. Also, if you catch them around shoot them with a squirt of water - they hate that.

I would get a water spray bottle every time you see them and spray them so hopefully they move on to someone elses place.

Hi Tonya, depending on what your yard looks like and whether you have space you can plant rue, lavender, pennyroyal, and citrus trees. Cats don't like the smell. Save up your ground coffee beans and throw them under or around the car. It's another smell they don't like

  • If you spread mothballs around the car, that should work.

There are several products that you can SAFELY use to keep cats/dogs away. One is called STOP and comes in various formulas for different critters. It can be found in most gardening departments at places such as Lowes/Menards/Home Depot.

You can also use scent covers. Try Coyote or Fox scent cover and place a few drops strategically around your property/car. Scent covers can be found in most sporting goods stores with a hunting department...or look online thru Sportsmans Warehouse/Bass Pro Shops/Cabelas/etc.

Please keep in mind that most stray/feral cats did not choose that life...they were cast out by irresponsible people. If you have an excessive number of strays, try looking for a TNR organization in your area...they can help stabilize the population.

Thanks everyone. I will try these suggestions.

Hi, Ask yourself, why are they choosing to do that? Are they looking for shelter, warmth, a place to toilet. If you take away their motive you solve the problem. Solve each reason one at a time. Maybe get your own cat! that is probably the problem solved!
