Hi Colleen, if you live in a place that has "winter" now is a great time to go and buy sidewalk salt on sale (they make pet safe kinds as well) it makes a great weed killer for situations like yours. Just cover your whole brick patio with salt - be very generous. I do it every year to my firepit which I have surrounded with beach sand. I just cover the sand with salt - it really really helps with the weeds well into summer and the salt dissolves by the first rain.

  • Plain old white vinegar is a great solution, and even better if you have kids or pets, won't hurt them.

The vinegar/salt comb is fine, but it only kills the top portion if the weed not the root. Your best bet is boiling water, it kills the whole weed root and all. And, is more environmentally friendly than the other combinations.
