There are various recipes on line using vinegar and dishwashing liquid. Really works. For best result spray them and lay some black out landscape fabric over it for a week or two.

Safe Weed killer: 1 gallon white vinegar, 2 Cups Epsom salts, 1/3 cup Dawn dish soap (blue kind). Mix and apply early in the a.m. but after dew is evaporated. It will kill any plant but is not harmful to birds or animals.

This weed killer is harmful to ANY plant, roses or not. It is great on weeds, that is the great part of this recipe.

I have never had much luck with any of the vinegar, dish soap, salt recipes, tried most all. What works best is boiling hot water directly on the weeds, or pull them up after the rain.
