What can I use to keep weeds out of my asparagus?

    smother them out with newspaper,and cardboard.You cannot use any chemicals ,or vinegar etc.that will kill the plants

    Also, people swear by pouring boiling water on the plants and roots. They can't handle the shock. Hope that helps!!

    lay down newspaper between the plants and then cover with black plastic. I used garbage bags that were slit open. I made pins to hold the plastic in place by cutting clothes hangers and bending the pieces into u shapes which were pushed into the ground.

    Hello Betty, I agree . You can smother them out by putting cardboard or newspaper between your plants. You will need to weigh it down to keep it in place. You can put rocks on it or you can put your grass clippings on it too. Another way is to use Preen. I have used Preen in the past with great results. But that can get a little pricey depending on how big your garden is. Good luck.
