What is the best way to get rid of Spanish Moss ?

We just bought a home that has been vacant for about a year-and-a-half and Spanish moss from the trees is falling down until all the bushes and it's taking over and killing a lot of the bushes is there a good solution other than pulling it all out by hand is there some kind of spray or some way to get rid of it

Prior to use, it is recommended that you physically remove as much of the moss as possible and then spray the affected tree(s). There is also a commercial product called Bio Wash (add ¼ cup of baking soda or potassium bicarbonate per gallon of spray) that is said to work well.http://homeguides.sfgate.com/remove-moss-oaks-74904.html -

was told by gardener spray with liquid copper to kill moss..Problem is it will spot any thing and permantly stain it gets on.. the other choice is what I do pull off with rake.. alas you do have to cover your self very good as spiders and bugs WILL find you as you pull it off trees..LOOK out for POWER lines if you use rake method... -

I think the conditions are what it likes , so the only thing you can do is manage it. Use it to line hanging baskets. Bag it up and sell it on. some people would love it, including me, but I am in UK.
