    Try getting it removed and then doing a root killing treatment.

    I'm not sure if you are trying to keep it but if you cut it down as low as you can then drill holes all around the base of the plant and into the roots with a drill and fill those holes with epsom salt daily for a couple of weeks it will dry it out and kill it

    I'd use hedge trimmers then go to the home improvement store and ask for a product (I forgot the name) it's a special enzyme that disolves tree stumps and their roots. Use librally.

    Cut the shrub down as much as possible,that spray brush b gone by oath the rid the rest of the shrub.If there a stump when finished use stump out

    Looks like it could be honeysuckle, which is very invasive. I've heard people having success with cutting it down to the ground and pouring salt or epsom salts in the center and around the base.
