You can build a wooden porch right around it, if you have the room. My deck was built, by the previous homewnwr, ignoring the concrete stoop. The deck supports were placed separately, and a new staircase built. I did see a diy show where they put new masonry facing on a concrete stoop. -

We just had this done professionally two weeks ago. He built a framework of treated lumber over the concrete stoop, then covered it in composite decking, and installed composite pillar and railing. You just have to be sure you have enough clearance between the stoop and the door frame. Using composite was expensive, but worth every penny. It turned out beautifully. I'm sure it added value to the house.
