Hi. I don't know frame you have, but i bought a metal frame and it was very low so I bought two 2×4s, drilled holes to match the short legs and it has sat perfect for 11 years. I suggest that you leave it the full length for stability. If you or you know someone who's handy theres always a box frame that can also be constructed to have roll out drawers for storage.
