I have put contact paper on it over the years, but the last time I decided to make a change, I used peel and stick tiles. It "looks" like granite

If the wood or base material is in good condition, it’s a great idea.
If not, it’s cheaper to just buy new countertops.
If you have oddly shaped ares to cover, you can buy ends for very little $$!!
Just put them end to end and use clear silicone sealer/caulking to cover the space where the ends butt.
