It is classic style, made with great wood, by a reputable company. Clean it with lemon oil and leave it alone. Add your colors with your rug, your bedspread and walls. If you paint it you will regret it down the road when painted furniture has run it's cours and fallen out of favor.
I agree with V Smith 100%. I've seen it done with beautiful solid wood furniture and breaks my heart. I guess I'm just old fashion and value good furniture and not the cheap crap that is sold today. If I were you I would sell it and buy some soft wood furniture which you could paint and distress.
Give it a good cleaning and see how it looks, I would hate to see you paint this gorgeous set for a fad of painting. It is easier to give it a sanding and restain into a different color than to paint it, and have regrets. Removing paint is not as forgiving as it sounds.

You can update the handles or use furniture transfers if you don't want to paint it. It's a great way to add accents to the furniture.
Give it a good cleaning but DO NOT paint this. Add new bedding and throw pillows. New hardware will also make a huge change.
