Just got one. Took out the drawers to use for something else. Measure the drawer supports and cut wood for shelves then screw or glue to old drawer supports. For the glass portion (which most have on the right) add new supports and shelving. Leave glass door or remove and fill holes with wood putty where the hinges were.
There are several ideas on Hometalk Roberta. Here's a pretty one: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/kitchen-dining/kitchen-dining-furniture/old-gun-cabinet-transformed-8312115
Old Gun Cabinet Transformed
Buy 4 metal strips with grooves in them for adjustable shelves from hardware store.. Then buy shelf clips. you can spray paint these items before putting them cabinet in colors you like. A glass cutter can cut glass shelves for you or you can cut wood shelves yourself.
Joanneās answer is succinct yet complete. Good job!
Drill holes in the sides (inside) and add these shelving pegs, then cut your boards to size and place them on the pegs! Drill additional holes so you can adjust the pegs If you'd like.
