Texturing the Walls

Les and Gina
by Les and Gina
Les is teaching Jeff some basic texturing. To days lesson knock down.
This is how thick the texture needs to be when doing knock down
Les likes to start in the corner and work his way to the center
He stays dead center facing the wall he is texturing beading at the knees when he is texturing down the walls to the floor
prep work is the key to a successful texturing, plastic and tape all doors, doorways, windows, ceiling, floors and tape around all switches and outlets if you skip any of these things you will be cussing at yourself the entire time you are scrubbing it all back off what you didn't want textured.
Now Jeffs' turn as the master watches.
Les says he is a quick study
got a little heavy handed here but not to bad for a beginner
much better
yes Les you can gloat
time to knock it all down. Les likes to wait till the mud has lost its glossiness than with a gentle hand and a 6 inch knife in your non dominate hand and a 10 inch knife in your dominate hand to scrape off the excess mud that you will remove during this process gently go from bottom to center.
Than from top to center GENTLY!!!
in some spots you will have to use a smaller knife
Les is a pro so he can go in any direction
Jeff did a great job. Kiddos Jeff

How can I add texture if I don't have a sprayer?

  • Allison Newby Allison Newby on Apr 01, 2020

This is good but ultimately it has no info on how to get a textured wall. What's he using? What's the name of the sprayer? What's in the sprayer?did he prep the walls? Idk . You left a good bit out. Other than that the photos are great but I have no clue what's happening. Lol I'm sorry maybe I missed something. sometimes I get ahead of myself and need to step back -breathe, and refocus and take a second look. I'm still curious if the steps and materials used.

I ahve this textured finish on my ceilings, it looks great with a semi gloss paint. Previous house ( remodeled single wide) I had this on both walls and ceilings, painted same color, off white. Its great..hides a world of sin and easy to touch up.
