Not sure to whom your question is directed, but most of us answering questions are self-trained from doing projects over the years. We do it ourselves because we either are not happy with the quality of work done by others or we don't have the money to pay others. Sometimes we do things ourselves simply because we enjoy the challenge and satisfaction.

May I ask what profession you are interested in? Hi...I’m Dee. Are you wanting to go behind the hometalk sceen to see how things get put to gether? They have offices in New York. if you are talking other.. tell us what profession you are considering..by trade, I’m a registered nurse. That requires 4 yrs of collage, and no bashfulness.

Hi Aya! I am a big believer in learning by doing. Do you have any local interior designers that you can offer to help out in some capacity in exchange for learning on the job. It is a great way to learn the skills while learning how to network, which is so important as a designer and entrepreneur.

Hi Aya, as far as I know there are no professionals on this site, I mean in the home arts, not other fields. I love decorating but only for myself, I like to give advice and help others with things I know about like painting, sewing, hanging pictures, art etc. My advice to you is to read every decorating magazine you can lay your hands on. Take courses in art, and math. Learn about woods and design styles. Go to a design school if you have the opportunity.

my high school was unusual, it was a trades school. car repair, computer repair, sheet metal projects..nursing courses, wood working etc. none of us were expected to get a 4 yr degree, just go to the community college and.. that's what i did. it gave me a jump start to my BS degree.

Did you send a message to Hometalk? I do not believe that they have an office in Canada. But perhaps they could refer you on to another website at .ca or to additional sources of information. There is nothing to loose, or no obligations on your part in continuing to ask questions.
