Hi Larry. I'm Cindy. Call your local high school and ask if they could recommend a student. Or, ask the church secretary if she knows of anyone. Sometimes students are required to do community work. So that would be a win-win. And, last but not least, talk to your neighbors. Even if they don't have appropriate aged kids, they may know someone who does. Teenagers would love a job like that. Best of luck to you Larry.
Google, flip through the yellow pages, chat with your neighbors. If you are on Nextdoor.com, that is a great way to find trades people. I have found several great resources through my neighbors. I live in an area where most kids are privileged and spoiled, none want to do any work. (When I was a kid we had a paper route, mowed lawns, did a ton of baby sitting!) However I have found a few that are decent honest kids looking to make college money. I have a hired professional service and found through a referral from one of my neighbors. Gardeners and especially "mow and blow" services are a dime a dozen out here so prices are pretty competitive - but you get what you pay for. I pay a little more as I need more things done that I can no longer do myself or do not have the tools.
If you are on Facebook, your local Facebook page is a great resource for finding local services like this. You can ask the group for recommendations, and you'll probably get back a ton of responses!
Larry: Do you subscribe online (free) to NextDoor? you can put your request for recommendations on that board.
Hi Larry. In my area we use a neighborhood website that people can ask for help, alert neighbors of things going on, or get recommendations. It's called Nextdoor Neighbor. Go to nextdoor.com, and check out if it is available in your area. You can also check and see if anyone has things posted at a local grocery store. Sometimes when you walk in there will be a pin board with things like this. Good Luck!
