I’m pretty creative but mostly from experience from the challenges of owning an older home, which needed a lot of updating. It’s also small and I made a lot of changes to find what works. I’ve also helped others.
have been renovating and decorating homes for about 50 years now, DIY most of the time except for professionally needed jobs like roofs, plumbing, a/c and electrical.
I answer from experience - I love doing DIY home projects and decorating.
not enough funds to pay to have others do the reparies.
Just trying to think "outside of the box" and make do with what we have. Often we get results better & more inexpensive that buying something new at the store. Necessity is the mother of invention is a good old quote.
I'm an artist and had a business of doing murals and faux work. Had to come up with less expensive ways of doing different finishes. Because of this I also worked with custom home builders. They helped me to understand construction and I would also experiment a lot.
Experience and also maybe a "good" eye. We have always done creative things in our home, painting, papering etc. We also can see possibilities, in things, what could be done with them. My husband is also a firm believer in learning from You Tube. Also it is WANTING to do things, to arrange things, to make things. I am not an artist like my husband but just a while ago he told me I have an "artistic" eye in that I can see how to use things artistically.
