Turn off the gas. Call the gas company or the fire department. My fire dept. is literally five minutes away. Employees will check out your gas line, pressure, and valves. They don’t want any explosions so they should make sure you are familiar with all the parts, have a convenient extinguisher, and that you know how to troubleshoot the next time. Could be the thermocouple or gas valve. Call the gas company. They can check it out and usually for free.
