How do I remove the rough surface after removing tile backsplash?

I found out how to remove tile backsplash and got through that part of the job quite easily, however, I am left with a rough surface from the grout and I am battling to smooth it out, please let me know how to fix this!

There is a tool especially designed to scrape grout, also some tools have special blades that can remove grout. Good luck on your project.
