How do I fix the top of a folding table?

I have several folding tables with damaged or ripped tops. Any suggestions on how to fix or resurface the tops? Thanks!!

What are the tops of the tables made from?

  They do not fold in half....they are only folding legs....three r small square with the padding and vinyl...but don’t need to remain padded and the other two are hard too long Tables...all r in very good shape just something happened in storage:(

  Yes , I have similar style tables. I had a "card table" from my parents that I had for eons. My brother still has it, he just painted it. You can rip off the remaining vinyl and replace with more from any fabric store. You can just tape up and still use as is and just use tablecloths. Can you share a photo to see what you have to work with? Maybe we can come up with better solutions.

do the tables fold in half? or just the legs up? are the tops padded & covered in vinyl?Do you need them to be padded? or is top hard plastic/vinyl,wood,metal,laminate?need specifics so I don't have to guess on solution.
