How can I keep my patio umbrella from swinging side to side?
I have a 9ft cantilever patio umbrella. It came with the base that I filled with sand no problem. The problem is the umbrella swings from side to side horizontally in the lest bit of wind. After only moments I’m no longer covered in shade and I have to turn the umbrella back towards me. Any suggestions? I’m I missing a part?

Is there no way you can anchor the umbrella to the post to stop it rocking. Say with a strap?
Usually there is a lever you have to put your foot on to move it from side to side, it sounds like yours might be missing something.
Hi! I found out there is something called a wind stabilizer:

How can I stabilize a cantilever umbrella shade?
I always use bungee cords for stuff like that. Do you think there is any place you can stabilize the umbrella with a bungee cord?
You might try using smaller bungie cords. Attach a few to the spines of the umbrella and attach them at the pole.
A locking devise could be used. If the support pole is rotating, you can use a screw or bolt to keep it from moving.
Hi! maybe this will help

Yes, I've stayed away since I heard that they do sway even in the slightest breeze. I have heard of people placing them near a wall or fence so that they are stabilized at least on one side. Not sure if you have that ability.
I would try and find a better base for it that is sturdier. THIS one on Amazon would work well.
Cement a pipe into the ground and insert the pole of the umbrella into that. Our pole was 8 ft. and 3 ft. was put into the ground the pole stuck up 7 ft. Took care of the problem and cost (including bag of kwik set) less then $25.
once the sand or kitty litter that folks use in umbrella bases settles it will cause your umbrella to sway back and forth- I would use quickcrete to fix the problem
Could you put rope on the center under the umbrella and tie on both sides to the base so it can’t move
Hi,
If your umbrella is never taken in, you could cement it in, or otherwise maybe lower it a bit that might help!
