What can I do about my rotting organic shingles?
What can I do about my roof of Certainteed brand organic shingles? They are rotting off my roof.Certainteed refused any payment under their class action settlement since I am not the original owner. Am I screwed? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Yes you are. How horrible, so sorry. Do you know if original owner got part of settlement? Maybe an attorney could contact them to see if they would turn over any of the funds to you. Don't hold your breath. If the class action payout is anything like ones I've been I involved in, you may get $1.25.
Shouldn't matter if you are the original owner or not.

But what you would recoup is negligible, so in a way, yes, you are out of luck. Is this a recent purchase? If so, it SHOULD have been caught in the home inspection. I would go after the realtor and home inspectors, as if they said the roof was in reasonable shape and if, in fact it is not, you can go after the previous owners and everyone in between.
Or hire your own attorney, but since this has been going on for years, you would probably spend more than what you would get back.
Sounds like it, that really sucks. It passed inspection when you bought it? then started to fall apart. I'm thinking Organic should not even be used with anything that has asphalt, recycled paper waste and chemicals in it, total sales pitch & billions in law suits. Sorry to hear of your misfortune does the civil suit provide local or any attorney's to contact? Check in the states listed to see if there are attorneys.Maybe you need one sometimes they take on client no pay til suits are settled then get percentage based on amt. of suit and clients they have all together. http://www.certainteedshinglesettlement.com/identifyshingles.cfm https://blogs.lawyers.com/attorney/products-liability/what-are-organic-asphalt-shingles-and-how-do-you-know-if-yours-are-failing-8565/
